Description

This delightful Teriyaki Baked Tofu recipe draws inspiration from the classic Christmas Baked Ham, making it a fantastic choice for a festive appetizer or side dish that will undoubtedly enhance your holiday table.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 800g firm tofu

Teriyaki Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 4 tbsp sugar or maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp mirin
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
  • 1/2 tsp minced ginger
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds
  • Sprouts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Press the firm tofu for 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. If using extra firm tofu, you can skip this step.
  2. Use a knife to create diagonal lines on the tofu, forming a criss-cross pattern. Be careful not to cut through the tofu completely.
  3. In a bowl, combine all the Teriyaki glaze ingredients and mix well.
  4. Place the tofu in a bag or container and pour the Teriyaki glaze over it. Allow the tofu to marinate for approximately 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
  6. Transfer the marinated tofu to a baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tofu becomes golden brown and baked on the outside.
  7. Airfryer instruction: Airfry the tofu for 15-20 minutes at 180C/350F.
  8. During the last 5 minutes of baking, pour the remaining marinade over the tofu.
  9. Remove the tofu from the oven and garnish with sesame seeds and optional sprouts.
  10. Serve the Teriyaki Baked Tofu as a delightful appetizer or side dish for your holiday table.
