- 800g firm tofu
Teriyaki Glaze:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 3/4 cup water
- 4 tbsp sugar or maple syrup
- 2 tbsp mirin
- 2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
- 1/2 tsp minced ginger
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
Garnish:
- Sesame seeds
- Sprouts (optional)
Instructions
- Press the firm tofu for 30 minutes to remove excess moisture. If using extra firm tofu, you can skip this step.
- Use a knife to create diagonal lines on the tofu, forming a criss-cross pattern. Be careful not to cut through the tofu completely.
- In a bowl, combine all the Teriyaki glaze ingredients and mix well.
- Place the tofu in a bag or container and pour the Teriyaki glaze over it. Allow the tofu to marinate for approximately 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
- Transfer the marinated tofu to a baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the tofu becomes golden brown and baked on the outside.
- Airfryer instruction: Airfry the tofu for 15-20 minutes at 180C/350F.
- During the last 5 minutes of baking, pour the remaining marinade over the tofu.
- Remove the tofu from the oven and garnish with sesame seeds and optional sprouts.
- Serve the Teriyaki Baked Tofu as a delightful appetizer or side dish for your holiday table.
